A room-scale fantasy VR MMO featuring combat, exploration, and crafting designed for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift+Touch.

OrbusVR is a new VRMMO successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter. This official Kickstarter page can be found here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rileydutton/orbusvr-virtual-reality-mmorpg

A virtual world designed from the ground up to be an immersive, MMO experience for a room scale VR System. This game will most likely be developed with the Vive in mind as the “room scale” is indicated. However, with the advancements of the Rift it should be possible for that as well.

So far the game-play is limited to the video you should see above, there isn’t much to go off of other than that. They do have some small things listed on their website, but for the most part it seems to be your average MMO. Classes are called disciples vs. the generic class name. These range from RuneMage (Magic Wielder), Ranger (Bow and Arrows), Musketeer (Gunner), and of course the Warrior (Sword/Shield Wielder). There are also sub disciples you can chose from, these include: Alchemy, Fishing, and Artificing (Repairing weapons, and upgrading them). This is something I really enjoy in most MMOs as it allows the ability to do stuff other than the normal combat in games. Especially in a VR game I can only hope that it’d be a blast to be able to repair swords, fish, etc.

“It’s dangerous to go alone” There’s a section on their website that indicated the monsters will be quite hard to defeat on your own, and it’s encouraged to find other people to go on your adventure with. I love this idea as the classic hack n’ slash games that make you seem over powered tend to get old for me. This also helps to bond the community, increase the need for guilds, etc. With the need to group up to go out into the basic wild you can only think that dungeons, raids, etc. will be extremely difficult and will require a whole raiding party to act with precision.

All in all this game looks really good, and it’s something to definitely keep and eye out. We will be keeping you all updated as we get updates for the game ourselves! Feel free to check out their website: https://orbusvr.com/

Roblox VR – First MMO with VR?!

Roblox has announced that they have gone VR making them, what appears to be the first MMO to go VR. The official post by them is here: http://blog.roblox.com/2016/04/roblox-enters-the-vr-space-with-launch-on-oculus-rift/  Roblox is a widely known MMO that now has the advantage on any others currently out there.

“The experience of ROBLOX on Oculus Rift is similar to other ROBLOX platforms. It is fully cross-platform, meaning that if you’re on Oculus Rift, your friend is on PC, and another friend is on mobile, you can all jump into the same game server. No other games on Oculus Rift are or any VR tech offer that level of connectivity.” quoted from the link above, they currently only have the Oculus Rift capability, however, in an interview they stated they will be reaching out to all other VR devices, and trying to incorporate them as well. The game has been available for around a month now, and they stated they have most main sites, and almost all features fully VR capable. This shows that pre-existing MMO’s are fully capable of doing this, however, when they will is entirely up to them.

Sword Art Online MMO Gameplay Sneak Peak

Sword Art Online, or what most people refer to as SAO is one of the anime series that started the boom for VRMMO’s. SAO helped create the excitement, and hope that one day we will have a truly immersive VR game, as well as wanting a VRMMO in general. There were rumors and small little posts here and there about a VRMMO of SAO coming out, and many people were saying it was a fake and hoax, however https://www.facebook.com/SwordArtOnlineBestPage/ came out and posted a video of some very early alpha/indev video of what seems to be a dungeon for the game itself.

On top of this, IBM Japan also came out and announced the game to be called “Sword Art Online The Beginning” with Bandai Namco, Aniplex several other partners. The IBM official video is right here:

The Alpha test will be tested by 208 alpha testers that will sadly only be in the Tokyo Metropolitan area and will be held March 18th and 20th.

There isn’t much known, or released about the game other than the two videos listed above. Keep in mind that the first video displayed hasn’t been confirmed by IBM as their game, and could be proven to be another game or fan made project in the works. The only thing we know right now, is the game is set to be released for the Oculus Rift, as well as the HTC Vive.

For more information on the game as it comes out, make sure to follow us over here at VRMMO.co
